Pineheart padded out of the Warrior's den, scanning the clearing for a familiar pelt. Finally, he spotted the silver-and-gray she-cat outside the nursery stretching herself out and reaching for the sun. He trotted over, a purr rising in his throat. "Hey Skystorm," He purred, sitting beside her. "How are you?" Pineheart welcomed the warm sunlight on his fur. It had been so long since last Greenleaf and the brown tom was glad it had come again before Skystorm's kitting. Kits being born in Leafbare sometimes didn't make it to warmer seasons. His tail tip twitched at the thought and pushed it away.
A soft breeze rustled his fur as Pineheart thought. He could help but worry for Skystorm as her belly was getting bigger by the day. Duskblaze had said that nothing would go wrong, but Pineheart wasn't sure. I hope they arrive soon. It had been almost four moons since the announcement, he thought that was too long to wait. Would they ever arrive?

Skystorm relaxed in a nice patch of sunlight as the Clan worked busily around her. Her eyes were fuzzy, as she was about to fall asleep, but was suddenly awoken by a friendly purr. Looking up, she blinked the sleep from her eyes and made out the face of her mate: Pineheart. Stretching, Skystorm sat up and was about to reply but saw his attention had drifted. Is he thinking about the kits? She wondered, tipping her head to the side. Laying her tail across his shoulders she said, "They'll come in their own time."

Pineheart jumped back into reality when he felt a soft tail on his shoulders. "O-oh, yeah." He said, not really hearing what she had said. He let out a sigh and lay down. "Waiting is such a pain in the tail." He muttered, closing his eyes. He flicked his ear as a feather landed on it. Opening his eyes, he saw Crystalwing glaring down at him, a blackbird in his jaws. He set it at Skystorm's paws before padding away. "What's his problem?" Pineheart asked, sitting up again. Did I do something? He wondered, watching Skystorm's brother grab a mouse from the fresh-kill pile and sitting on the opposite side of camp. Pineheart felt her pelt prickle when he saw the silver tom watching them. He turned to Skystorm, hoping she could do something about it.

Skystorm let out a purr at her mate's complaint. She felt the same way, kitting was never an easy task, and feared it as a young cat. She was about to lay beside him, when a shadow was cast over her paws. Looking up, she saw the outline of her brother, his head blocking the sun. In his jaws was a blackbird; Skystorm's favorite. She thanked him as he set it at her paws, and was about to start up a conversation, but stopped as he walked away. At Pineheart's meow she sighed and shook her head. "I don't know. He used to be so lively and energetic. But ever since you and- I mean, ever since we became warriors he hasn't been the same." Skystorm avoided any other questionsby ducking down and picking out the feathers of her fresh-kill. To her surprise, most of them had already been plucked. Crystalwing must have done it. She continued to pluck until all of them were gone. Sitting up straight, she arched her back and crouched down to eat.
After devouring most of the bird, Skystorm gazed up at her mate and, seeing him starring at something rose to look aswell. Crystalwing! Leave us alone! Skystorm flicked her tail and stood up. She padded over to her brother and stood infront of him. "Could you stop starring at us?" She asked innocently, trying not to upset him. The silver tom sat up, "Who's us? I only see you over there." Skystorm dug her claws into the soft dirt. "What do you have against Pineheart? What has he done to you?" She growled, her hostility growing. Crystalwing just flicked his tail. "Nothing." "Then why are you constantly glarring at him and making us feel uncomfortable?!" "I am not!" "Yes, you are! Just leave us alone!" Skystorm hissed and stomped off. Why does he have to be such a pain in the tail? I miss the old Crystalwing!

Pineheart snorted at Skystorm's reply. How could he have ever been nice? He wondered, watching her pluck the remaining feathers from the prey. His belly growled loudly and he got up and padded quickly over to the pile for something to eat. He snatched a shrew and trotted back. To his surprise, Skystorm had gone over to her brother when Pineheart wasn't looking and was talking with him, her fur bristling. Yeah, tell that furball what for! His tail swished with delight as he settled back with his meal. The shrew was juicey and flavourful and as he was halfway through it Skystorm came and slumped down beside him. "So, how'd it go?" He asked, watching her push away the remains of the bird. "Do you want me to see if Cream wants the rest of that?" He eyed the fresh-kill and was sad to see it wasn't even half finished. Is she not hungry? The brown tom felt bad for his mate. Nobody liked a sour cat. Having Crystalwing around when he was like this wasn't easy for any cat. Why can't there be some cat that can change him?! Pineheart would feel much better without the awkward static that seemed to float around Crystalwing like flies around rotten prey. Hopefully it wasn't going to get any worse.

Skystorm let out a depressing sigh as she slumped down beside her mate. "Horrible," She replied, "It's like he thinks you don't exist. I wish he wouldn't be like this." The prey Crystalwing had brought her was starting to make her feel sick, so she pushed it away. "Yeah, she likes blackbird. Thanks." She didn't feel like talking right now, so she sat up and padded back into the nursery. "Sorry, I'm feeling a bit tired." She caled to Pineheart before dissapearing into the den. Laying in the mossy, feathery bedding she soon fell into a dreamless sleep.

Letting out a sigh, Pineheart got to his paws and watched his mate dissapear into her den. It must be hard for her. He thought, turning and picking up the remains of the blackbird. The Elder's den wasn't far from the nursery, so it wasn't long before Pineheart delivered the fresh-kill. Cream seemed satified enough so Pineheart left quickly. It was just past sun high and there was going to be a bit of daylight left, so Pineheart went out on a solo hunting patrol. It would keep his mind off of Crystalwing for awhile at least.
By the end of the day, Pineheart had caught a few mice, a robin, and a shrew. He was satisfied with his catch, but was having trouble getting them all to the fresh-kill pile. He picked up all three mice in his jaws, the shrew and robin underneath his chin and made for camp. Just a little farther... Finally, after several minutes, he dropped the prey into the pile. He twisted his neck back and forth to loosen it, as it had been tightened up after carrying things like that, and was exausted. Slowly, he padded into his den and circled in his nest. Finding sleep was eay for him, this time.
